This has been a year of '1sts' for me both personally and professionally. Determination and grit aren't always characteristics that everybody likes in a person but as I get older I say 'stuff it' in a nice way and use these strong parts of my personality to do things like run 2 half marathons in the one year(there could be a 3rd yet).
Running for me has always provided a quick option for high intensity or low intensity workaround for having 2 children and a husband that works in real estate!(think 6-7 days a week) and keeping fit. It started later in my life and has increased with age! not sure what that's about haha
A big part of running is the social side - this image is of a long time friend who over the years has inspired and trained me to a certain degree to continue on this road. I run with a club too now but it's all about our inherent need to belong to a tribe that understands us(& totally gets our Garmin/TomTom talk!)
Here we are running at the Townsville Running Festival in August this year. It's great - it's a really flat course, just sitting on the cusp of the weather turning from Winter to Summer(there is only two seasons in Nth Qld) & lets you run a fast time but watch out for the headwind on straight!
I think if you're ok with delayed gratification running will totally work for you - when you're on course, its not all 'happy days' but as soon as you finish and that feeling comes over you (the one after you want to vomit or lay down for a week) that feeling is what keeps you going to the next big race/milestone/socialrun!
happy moving lovelies
