This week I was talking to a group of mums and believe it or not we got around to talking about food and lunchboxes – you know that conversation, whether you are a mum or not, you generally have. It could be the excitement of new food in the lunchbox , the feeling of dread every Monday morning or scheming on ways to make everyone eat healthier without knowing it! (the art of disguising fruit and veg in things!)
One of these beautiful mummas was sharing on how she didn’t like to put things that she had made/baked in lunchboxes because it never looked like the pics. So this is my contribution to saying ‘doesn’t matter, it really doesn’t matter’
Firstly there are a few things to take into consideration:
All the food images in Super Snacks cookbook are of our actual food we baked HOWEVER this food was completely inedible after each shoot. It would take anywhere up to 1 hour to get the pic we wanted out of 25. We worked with the very talented Luminous Kitchen & we shifted the food into different light, onto different benches, into different containers and the list goes on…..see image above 🙂
The pic included in this blog is as real as it gets – this is from my kitchen – baked straight out of my cookbook with no filter and NO food styling.
BUT the biggest point I want to make is – who the hell cares what it looks like on the outside, it’s all about the love and whole ingredients that are on the inside. On a scale of 1 to 10 – this is 100!
My language of love is food & it may well be yours if you are here and really that has to be your focus. Well…you have to make it somewhat pleasing to the eye but for the most part, it’s all about the deliciousness. And going back to cooking 101 – it’s all about the ingredients we start with.
So my lovely nourishers, put aside wanting to ‘nail’ the instagram worth pic and just add love.
