‘nutty’ Handmade raw chocolate!

It would be totally understandable if you asked why would you make your own chocolate when there is so many fantastic ‘health’ chocolate makers out there?

There’s a a few really good reasons for me:

  1. I know exactly how much ‘sweetener’ is going in, regardless if it’s honey or maple syrup  or stevia or rice malt, I’m very conscious of the ‘sweet’ factor’! I can control this when I make my own 🙂
  2. I know that there is no dairy at all – it can sneak into some of the other chocolate bars
  3. I know that is has really good raw ingredients in it – I can choose my favourites
  4. On a cost basis – it wins every time!

'Nutty' Handmade Raw Chocolates

: Makes 1.5 cups of liquid chocolate


  • 1 cup PowerSuperFoods cacao butter
  • 1/2 cup My Organics cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1tsp vanilla paste or extract
  • 1/4 cup mixed peel
  • 1/4 cup rst almonds
  • 1/4 cup rst cashews
  • 1/4 cup rst macadamia or brazil nuts
  • pinch cinnamon, all spice & fresh nutmeg(this is optional)
  • Step 1 Melt cacao butter in bowl over hot water
  • Step 2 Add honey & vanilla once melted
  • Step 3 Mix together – this is fat and water so will not combine completely
  • Step 4 Add cacao powder and mix using a stick blender if you have one(if not just whisk by hand)
  • Step 5 Add the nuts & mixed peel
  • Step 6 Mix until well combined & nuts are covered well
  • Step 7 Quickly spoon into molds – because we have not ‘tempered’ the chocolate it will need to be cooled quickly to prevent the fats separating and crystalising
  • Step 8 Pop into the fridge to set
  • Step 9 Pop out of molds and store in air-tight containers
