Fruit mince bites!

I absolutely LOVE mince pies & becoming dairy free obviously has provided some restraints!! in that department however this is my version of the delicious spicy sweet Christmas tradition! Other than the dried and fresh fruit there is no added sugar!

This mix gets better over time – so if you can make it one day and eat the next, the spices get into the fruit and it’s sooooo good!

OOOOhhhhhhh this is such a delicious little mouthful, I found it hard to stop at just one!

Fruit Mince Bites

: Makes 16-18 Mini Tarts


  • ** Crust **
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup pepita meal(or use almond meal)
  • 3tbs dairy free butter
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest(fresh)
  • 2 tb honey
  • ** Fruit Mince Mix **
  • 1 cup chopped apple(about pea size) - firmly fill the cup
  • 1tsp orange zest
  • 1 cup apple puree(it helps to thicken the mince)
  • 1/3 cup cranberries - dried
  • 1/3 cup sultanas
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • 1/8 tsp gr ginger
  • 1/4 tsp mixed spice
  • 1 1/2 tb DF butter
  • Step 1 Preheat oven to 175°C
  • Step 2 Add oats and pepitas to food processor and blitz until it becomes a meal consistency
  • Step 3 Melt DF butter, honey and zest on the stove(not too hot)
  • Step 4 Pour warm butter mix into meal
  • Step 5 Process until it comes together
  • Step 6 Spray mini muffin tins(or any tin of choice here)
  • Step 7 Press crust into moulds – make sure it’s evenly spread to prevent burning
  • Step 8 Rest for 30 mins in the freezer while you start on the fruit mix
  • Step 9 Once crust has set – place in oven for 5-8 mins
  • Step 10 Bake well to a firm crust
  • Step 11 Take out once golden in color – run a knife around the edge just to loosen
  • Step 12 Cool – store in airtight container if not using immediately
  • Step 13 Add all fruit mince mix ingredients to a pot on the stove
  • Step 14 Simmer mix over heat until mix thickens(depending on your heat – 20 mins approx)
  • Step 15 Allow to cool
  • Step 16 Fill crust shells just prior to eating 🙂
