sooooo how’s the temperature at your place? We know that Summer is on it’s way with the heat moving in but do you, like me, get excited because that means smoothies are on the menu for lunch, breakfast and dinner? Come on, I’m not alone right?
Living in Far North Queensland has lots of bonuses and tropical fruit is one of them – another exciting event is that MANGOES are back in season! Woohoo! We do get spoilt when they are super cheap to eat for a 2 month period so we make the most of it!
This is the first yummy cool offering for the start to the heat – I’m calling Greena Coloda (no alcohol of course! – well there could be if you are that way inclined :))
Depending on how thick you like your smoothies – you may need to add more liquid. As you can see from the image – it’s kinda like a ‘nice cream’. I use a Optimum Blender G2.1 on the ‘sorbet’ setting to whip up this delicious thickness & I believe it helps entice the little once even after they see that there is spinach added.
Sweeteners(even natural ones) are always on my priority list & it’s something I think about when making smoothies – this one is not that sweet & it the good fats from the coconut and nuts helps with the absorption rate of the fructose.

Greena Colada Smoothie (or Nice Cream)
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup frozen mango pieces(spoilt I know)
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- 1/2 cup baby spinach leaves
- 1 cup coconut milk or water
- 1/4 cup cashews
- Step 1 Blend & Enjoy!
